The Cadbury Creme Egg, a comparative study

I think that, along with white chocolate covered oreos, Cadbury Eggs might just be the best commercially marketed holiday food. They are something I look forward to every year. So, I decided that it was high time for me to figure out which kind of Cadbury Egg I like best. I'm comparing 3 different types: Original, mini-original, and mini-caramel. I think there might be a peanut butter one also, but I'm not such a fan of peanut better candies.

Let's start with the mini-caramel....Mmmmm, the chocolate outside is delicious and the caramel is creamy. The egg is filled to just the right level with caramel, which mixes perfectly with the chocolate. But in the end, despite the yumminess of the caramel and choco, I find myself still craving sugar sweetness.

Next, the mini-original. I found these to be disappointing. They feel over-filled, and leaking out of the packaging. The creme center was grainy, and it really had very little taste. These are good if you want something that tastes like sugar, but not very fufilling.

Last, the original. Perfection. First, I nibbled my way through the thick chocolate top. The soft fondant center was smooth and creamy. I like to lick out some of the center before eating the choco sides. Once I get about half way through, I just end up getting impatient and shove the rest into my mouth all in one go. The taste is great and it makes me think about Easter and the Spring.

Well, this was hands down for me. The original wins by a landslide. I know Easter is over, but I didn't want to wait a whole year to post about how much I love Cadbury Creme Eggs.
